For those of you who don't know us, Buddy is an attorney and avid sailor. He has loved all things nautical since making two Atlantic crossings on ships by the age of six. He spent his childhood thereafter on False River fishing and water skiing.

Melissa is a web developer and has dual business degrees from LSU in Information Technology and Marketing. Throughout her life Melissa has always been drawn towards boats and the water.

We married in 1997 at Caneel Bay on St. John Island in the U.S. Virgin Islands. It was the perfect setting for the marriage of two people in love with each other and the sea.

After numerous bareboat charter trips in the British Virgin Islands since our marriage in 1997, it became apparent that sailing once or twice a year was simply not enough to satisfy our nautical souls. We set our goal to cruise the seas for at least two years, concentrating on the Caribbean and the Mediterranean.

The acquisition of Indigo Moon culminates a three year search for the "perfect" cruising yacht to suit our needs. It is large enough to be ocean seaworthy and entertain guests comfortably, yet small enough to be single-handed when necessary.

In addition to acquiring Indigo Moon, we have honed our seamanship skills as well. Both of us earned Captain's Diplomas through Sea School and are both U.S. Coast Guard licensed Captains, now fully qualified to operate commercial vessels carrying up to six passengers plus Captain and crew.

Rounding out our training for this adventure, we are now certified divers as well. From 2002 to 2004 we participated in dives at some of the most famous locations in the world in order to hone our SCUBA skills, including dives exceeding depths of 120 feet in both the Cayman Islands and the famous "Blue Hole" off the coast of Belize.

Thus, after several years of planning and preparation, we are now ready to set sail. Our future plans are only limited by our imaginations.

People ask: "How can you do such a thing - quit your job and sell your house? Isn't that scary?" Perhaps. But, any trepidation is far overshadowed by the sheer excitement of finally being in a position to "live the dream" we have worked so assiduously to attain.

There will certainly be trials and tribulations and many experiences, both good and bad, along the way. We look forward to sharing our adventures through updated trip logs and photographs that will hopefully help bring our reports to life for you.

In short, you're invited!

Visit this web site often for a "virtual cruise" with us as we sail Indigo Moon to new ports over the horizon. Check back often to see what's new!

Also, if you would like to automatically receive notice via e-mail of latest adventures, including trip logs and photographs, we welcome you to join our e-mail list.

Finally, please feel free to contact us directly if you ever have questions or comments, or simply wish to share your love of sailing and the sea with us.

Fair winds,
Melissa and Buddy Signature
